Ruby Talks: John Dewsnap on Moving Flexcar From Java to Rails in 4 MONTHS + Keynoting RailsConf 2025

Rhiannon Payne, Marketing Director at Ruby Central, chats with John Dewsnap, Director of Engineering at Flexcar. John will be giving a keynote talk at RailsConf 2025 in Philadelphia titled “Moving from Java to RoR and how it changed everything.” In some ways, it's a sequel to Irina Nazarova's keynote last year at RailsConf Detroit. We chat about why and how the team at Flexcar made the switch and how it feels to now be a "Rubyist."
